Providing Travel Health Advice, Coordinating an International Network of Doctors and Clinics, and Preventing the Spread of Infectious Diseases

Our mission is to provide impartial and accurate travel health advice and to coordinate an international network of qualified medical practitioners to assist travellers in need of emergency medical care during their trip.

Our goal is to prevent the spread of infectious diseases by travellers. To advance global health objectives, we want to award more scholarships and grants to healthcare practitioners from developing countries to study, research, and train in the field of travel medicine and health.

Our vision is to live in a world where peace and understanding can be attained through international travel. The friendships gained while travelling often bring about a sense of solidarity and evoke a spirit of cooperation. Our motto Ut Unum Sint - 'Let All Be One' in Latin - expresses the dream of working together for the common good.

Our Approach

Our focus is on prevention. We believe that being well informed about possible health risks at your destination and taking all the necessary precautions during your trip are key factors for a healthy trip. We also believe that credible and timely travel health advice should be fully accessible and free to all travellers.

IAMAT’s work solely relies on donations from our member travellers. This allows us to provide impartial information and recruit qualified independent medical practitioners around the world without compromising medical ethics.

Programs and Projects

Public Education - We advise travellers on vaccination requirements and recommendations for all countries. We also provide information on the epidemiology and prevention of infectious diseases such as Malaria, Schistosomiasis and Chagas' Disease, including details on climate, food and water safety around the world.

Medical Directory - Our popular list of participating clinics and doctors around the world is revised annually and more cities and countries are added all the time. The listing also includes a section for IAMAT affiliated mental health practitioners.

International Travel Medicine Education Program - We provide training and research opportunities to healthcare practitioners from developing countries towards the advancement of travel medicine and health. Our program has three components: Visiting Scholars Fund, Travel Medicine Certification Grants and Lectureship Grants. All the proceeds from your purchase of our Guide to Healthy Travel are earmarked for this program.

Ut Unum Sint Centre for the Study of Medical Aspects in Travel

We secured 100 acres of property within one hour's drive of Niagara Falls to build a permanent home for IAMAT. The Centre will act as a forum for collaboration and innovation to enhance medical services for travellers. All the proceeds from your purchase of our 24 World Climate and Food Safety Charts go towards the construction of the Centre.
